Strawberry Fare - Dinner

Following my last post on the French salon afternoon tea in Taipei, here's another sweet treat.  Strawberry Fare is renowned for its great desserts, and I posted on a visit for brunch and desserts early this year here.  I went back to Strawberry Fare in April for W's birthday dinner.  Yes, I know April was quite some time ago, but hopefully the food has not changed too much since then!

For entree, we shared the grilled half shell mussels with parmesan crust and caper aioli ($13.50 for 6).  This was absolutely delicious!  The mussels were juicy, and I loved the cheesy herb crust.  A great start!
For main, W had the prawns gremalata - grilled prawns with lemon, parsley and garlic, served with salad greens, toasted ciabatta, and saffron aioli ($21.50).  I was impressed by the size of these prawns.  They were cooked to perfection, and were full of flavours.  W also loved the toasted ciabatta, fresh with a crispy crust and soft middle.
I had the duck confit - slow cooked duck leg, parsley butter, jus, crispy duck fat potatoes, and buttered green beans ($28.50).  The duck was tasty and I liked the green beans, although I would have preferred mash potato.  Another nice dish.
Now comes what we've all been waiting for - the desserts!!  It was difficult choosing from the long list of desserts, but we finally made our decisions.  W went for the lemon tart ($16.50), light shortcrust with a creamy sabayon filling, served with honey mascapone, and berry sorbet.  As usual, this was beautifully presented.  The lemon tart was light, with lemony mascapone filling.  W was a happy girl!
Since it's been a while, I decided to go for the ultimate chocolate dessert ($18.50).  This was the perfect dessert for chocolate lovers.  It came with a great selection of chocolate treats, with chocolate fudge brownie, chocolate mousse, chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate pate, and raspberry coulis.  Everything was delicious, and I particularly liked the dark chocolate pate, which was smooth with a rich chocolate taste.  A word of warning, this was quite a substantial dessert, so make sure you have saved some room in the stomach!  With 4 chocolate desserts, this dish is also quite rich, so some people might have trouble finishing it (not the chocolate lovers, of course!).

Another great meal at Strawberry Fare.  This is a must visit restaurant for those with a sweet tooth.   Strawberry Fare is open 7 days for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert.  Booking is recommended.
