This is a follow up to the North & South Yum Cha post. Other than Yum Cha, North & South also does great dinners and one of the best dish here would be the Peking duck.
The Peking duck requires pre-ordering by phone and is available in 1, 2, or 3 courses. The main dish is the crispy skinned duck which was cooked to perfection. It came sitting on a bed of crispy prawn crackers. It also came with steamed Chinese pancakes which were thin, soft, and great for wrapping the crispy duck along with spring onion, carrots, cucumbers, and hoisin sauce. A little parcel of happiness.
We had the 2 course Peking duck option, which also came with the salt and pepper duck bones. Good for people who like to chew on the bones. The 3 course option came with duck soup.
Other than Peking duck, they also had several nice dishes. The salt and pepper prawns came either with or without shells. We chose the ones with shells and the prawns were huge and of good quality. It was slightly spicy and very tasty. Great for prawn lovers like me.
The salty fish and chicken tofu was a bit different from the usual deep fried tofu dishes. The tofu was silky and soft and the sauce was interesting with little bites of salty fish and chicken. A refreshing taste after all the deep fried and spicy dishes.
The deep fried pork ribs came with crunchy deep fried garlic. The pork ribs were juicy although was slightly salty for my taste.
It is always nice to have a vegitable dish to balance out the rest of the heavy meat dishes. The stir fried vegitables was a good option. This chinese vegitable (unfortunately, I do not know what it's called in Englsh) has little yellow flowers, a bit like brocoli, and also has long stems. It has a natural sweetness which does help to encourage its eaters to eat more greens!
The jellyfish salad is also refreshing. It came with pickled cucumber in a sauce with vinegar, sugar, sesame, and optional chilly. The jellyfish has a great consistency which was very slightly chewy. It complimented the other dishes well.
Another good meal at North & South. It may pay to book, as the place is quite popular, although dinners are usually not as busy as lunch. I was forunate to have my meals paid for, so I don't actually know how much the meal came to, but it's usually reasonably priced here.
